Do you know certain nutrients are heat sensitive?

Heating and overcooking food above a wet-heat temperature of 118F (50C) and dry-heat temperature of 150F (65C) deactivates enzymes and also destroys heat sensitive vitamins, especially antioxidants, essential fatty acids (EFAs) and amino acids (which are proteins).

Eating a combination of cooked, lightly cooked, raw, with a pungent flavor and fermented foods ensures you are receiving the enzymes and all nutrients necessary for strong digestion and optimal cell health.

  • Wet heat cooking methods include water, liquid or steam to transfer heat to food. Common wet cooking methods: poaching, simmering, boiling, braising, stewing, pot roasting, steaming and en papillote (cooked and served in a paper wrapper).
  • Dry heat cooking methods include grilling, pan-frying, and broiling and baking in an oven. It even includes deep-fat frying.

Without essential nutrients, our cell health is affected, creating over-all ill health. Therefore, the food choices you make are vital to ensuring you have strong digestion and a healthy mind!
